The Heart of Adventism Part 2 - Has the Word of God Changed?
By Dr. Paul A. Scavella
To answer the fundamental question, No, the Bible has not changed.
Malachi 3:6 declares,
"For I am the Lord, I change not." Hebrews 13:8 reminds us that
"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever."
If the Word has not changed, then the principles of holiness, separation from the world, and Christian behavior have not changed either. The theology that guided our pioneers from 1844 through the 1960s remains our anchor today.
What has changed is not the truth, but our tolerance for compromise. We live in an era that worships comfort and despises boundaries. The Al's description of the "modern Adventist path" as an "intentional, high-vibrancy life" sounds more like a secular wellness brand than the gospel of Jesus Christ.
"High-vibrancy living" is the language of New Age spirituality, not the language of the cross. The biblical Adventist path is not about seeking a high-vibrancy lifestyle; it is about a crucified life. It is about taking up our cross daily, dying to self, and walking in the narrow way (Luke 9:23). When we rebrand our health message as mere "wellness" and our Sabbath rest as "self-care," we strip these prophetic truths of their sanctifying power.
